Associate General Counsel

EdgeCore Internet Real Estate is seeking an experienced real estate and commercial attorney to join its legal team. EdgeCore is a data center developer and service provider that offers scalable and secure data center solutions to the world’s largest cloud, internet, and technology companies.

This position will be responsible for supporting all facets of EdgeCore's legal functions, including negotiation of complex real estate, commercial, and financing transactions, performing legal diligence on real estate and other acquisition transactions, providing support to EdgeCore's compliance team, and serving other internal legal functions. The attorney in this position will be expected to work closely with the investment and commercial teams to find creative solutions to challenging legal and commercial issues while supporting EdgeCore's fast-paced growth. The attorney will be expected to demonstrate leadership, working directly with EdgeCore's senior leadership team and investment committee, managing external counsel, and leading external negotiations. The attorney will be responsible for periodically reviewing the Company’s form agreements, policies, and procedures with other groups and recommending changes to respond to changing industry, customer, regulatory, and policy standards and requirements. This attorney will also support EdgeCore's risk management functions by working with operational and compliance teams to proactively mitigate risks to EdgeCore's business, managing document and agreement organization and retention, and through support of the General Counsel in management of its insurance program. The attorney will work closely with and directly report to the General Counsel, will be a member of the Executions Team, and will have a title commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

  1. Diligence and negotiate complex real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing and financing.
  2. Negotiate and collaborate with leasing and operations teams on customer and vendor contracting.
  3. Negotiate and collaborate with the development team on construction contracting and administration.
  4. Maintain forms and a contract management system.
  5. Support the resolution of legal issues and disputes arising from development and operations.
  6. Positively impact the business by proactively managing current and emerging risks.
  7. Other responsibilities as assigned by the General Counsel.

Requirements

  1. Juris Doctorate degree with membership in at least 1 state bar
  2. 4+ years combined law firm and in-house experience with technology and/or real estate companies, with commercial contracts, real estate (particularly commercial), construction, and financing experience a plus
  3. Interest in playing a key role in a dynamic and fast-paced investment organization
  4. Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present information in a compelling and concise format
  5. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a high-pressure setting
  6. Ability to demonstrate tact, discretion, confidentiality, and good judgement in handling sensitive and confidential matters and documentation
  7. Strategic and business-oriented thinker
  8. A team player mentality and strong desire to learn and adapt to evolving environments
  9. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong sense of urgency, and to turn in quality work quickly under strict time constraints
  10. Flexibility and the desire to go above and beyond what is required of you

Compensation and Benefits

Base Pay Range: Annualized salary range offered for this position is estimated to be $150,000-$190,000, however, the actual pay range depends on a candidate’s experience and qualifications.

Variable Pay: Discretionary annual bonus, based on personal and company performance. You may also be eligible for the Company’s long term incentive program.
